Julie Rikelman works with the Center for Reproductive Health as an attorney. After returning the Center as a Senior Staff Attorney in 2011, she was named Litigation Director in 2012. From 1999 to 2001, she worked at the Center as a Blackmun Fellow. In March 2020, she successfully argued before the United States Supreme Court in June Medical Services v. Russo, a landmark abortion rights case. 

Among her other legal work at the Center, she has fought to keep Mississippi's sole abortion clinic operating, challenged abortion bans, and led the Center's attempts to repeal invasive ultrasound regulations. It also entails devising a novel legal method to establish how these restrictions infringe on the First Amendment rights of patients and providers.

She has also fought for teenagers’ rights to make their own reproductive health decisions in Florida and Alaska and against restrictions on medication abortion.Today, she asked the court to overturn the Mississippi law and uphold a woman’s right to abortion, according to BBC.
