Walker began his career at Huddersfield in 2010, where he only made six appearances for the Giants. He spent the majority of 2011 on loan at Barrow, making 16 appearances. Walker was loaned out again in 2012, this time to Swinton Town, where he played seven times and scored twice.

Walker was sold to Hull KR in 2013 after claiming that he was looking for a new challenge and that Hull KR is a big club.Against the London Broncos, he scored his first try for Hull KR.Walker played 107 times for Hull KR before turning down a reduced contract when the club was relegated following a loss in the Million Pound Game to Salford.

Walker joined St Helens for the 2017 season after leaving Hull KR. His time at St Helens was unsuccessful, and he did not finish the season with the club, as he was sold to Wakefield Trinity after only 9 appearances and scoring one try. Walker signed for Wakefield on a 212-year deal after an unsuccessful start to the season at St Helens, but only played 7 times before being dismissed when he tested positive for cocaine.

Walker agreed to a two-year contract with Salford, which will begin when his drugs ban expires in March 2019.He appeared in the 2019 Super League Grand Final, which St. Helens won at Old Trafford.Walker left Salford with immediate effect on February 21, 2020, according to a mutual agreement.

Walker was chosen to represent Scotland in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup in October 2013. In the group stage, he made his international debut against Tonga. Walker made additional appearances in the 2014 European Cup competition in October and November of 2014. He appeared in all of Scotland’s games and scored a try against France. Walker competed in the 2015 European Cup in October and November of 2015.
