Early Life : Eshelman was born and raised in Sterling, Illinois. She visited Sterling highschool , where she was a member of the National Honor Society. to not forget, she played basketball and tennis so well. Consequently, she played on the school’s girls’ five in 1977. it had been the primary girls’ basketball state champion in Illinois till then. Amy is an undergrad in history from Miami University, Oxford, and graduated in 1980. She has been a trustee in Steppenwolf Theatre.
Personal Life : Unquestionably, Amy Eshleman and Lori Lightfoot seem to share healthy bonding for 16 years.Lightfoot and Eshleman met once they joined CPL in 1994. Eventually, it led them to the altar in 1989.
Lightfoot and Eshleman are together for 16 years. They got married on the day same-sex marriages became legal in Illinois. during a previous interview with the Tribune, Eshleman discussed why the couple chose to urge married once they did and therefore the anxiety of coming out: “You do not know what your life goes to be like,” she said. “You want certain things for yourself, and falling crazy and having a family and doing all those things felt really important to us. To be ready to be married thereon day felt really big.”
The couple made it on the primary day when couple was declared legal in Illinois.Having one another , they adopted and raised a daughter who made it their entirety in married life. Their daughter Vivian may be a preteen aged 11.
Professional Life : Amy is a former Chicago library assistant commissioner. Eshleman worked there for everything of former Chicago library Commissioner Mary A. Dempsey’s tenure, which was from 1994 to 2012. During her time there, Eshleman helped develop YOUmedia, a digital media center for teens that started in 2009 at the Chicago Public Library’s Harold Washington branch.
The program had success and an identical version was spread nationally. “President (Barack) Obama cited (the) YOUmedia digital space for teens as a kind of latest and innovative learning space that must be replicated throughout the country,” then-Mayor Richard M. Daley said at the 2010 Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner.
