Professional Career
Anna was strongly inspired by the cultures and beliefs of the places she grew up. She was inspired to connect various cultures in celebration of their differences. Her mother’s efforts pushing for women’s and children’s rights around the world also had a big influence on her. She went into the field of campaigning for women of colour and teaching others using her mother’s job as an intersectional lens.
Anna drew confidence from her parents’ work and began to shape her identity as an activist while still an undergraduate student at Stanford University. As a sophomore, she was president of Stanford’s Black Student Union. She also rose to the position of executive director of Stanford’s Alternative Spring Break programme. She coordinated several rallies and events while doing both of these duties. The majority of her previous work was centred on Black people or the community. She gathered funding for a Bay Area women’s clinic and eventually acquired a love for social justice advocacy.
Anna was previously the first partner of Stockton, California. She co-authored the first-ever “Report on the Status of Women in Stockton,” which aimed to assist women in making decisions and gaining experiences. Anna has also worked as a consultant in the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion. She collaborated with a variety of businesses and individuals to achieve DEI objectives. Following that, she began writing blogs on a number of issues, including maternity celebrations, sterilisation of Black women, and the value of feminism.
TIME magazine, For Harriet, Darling Magazine, the Huffington Post, and Blavita were among the publications that admired and promoted her work. Her first book, “The Three Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation,” was also published. Flatiron Books released the book in February 2021. She quickly rose to become a New York Times bestseller and an Amazon Editor’s Choice because to her hard work and knowledge. People Magazine, Oprah Daily, USA Today, Fortune Magazine, The Skimm, NPR Forbes, MSNBC, Yahoo News, The Washington Post, Southern Living Magazine, The 19th News, GMA.com, C-Span, and others later highlighted the book in numerous magazines and articles.
