DeBose made her television debut in 2009, when she participated on So You Think You Can Dance and placed in the Top 20. She went on to star in the soap opera One Life to Live and in the North Carolina Theatre’s production of Hairspray as Inez, before playing Nautica in the Alliance Theatre’s production of Bring It On in 2011.
She also played a role in the ensemble of the New York Philharmonic’s televised version of Company. Bring It On embarked on a national tour in the United States at the end of 2011. DeBose maintained her role as Danielle in the 2012 Broadway play as an understudy.
DeBose played Mary Wilson in the Broadway production of Motown in 2013, understudying Diana Ross.
