Mathukkara Moothedath Ramachandran was born on July 31, 1942, in Thrissur, Kerala, into a family with a rich cultural and literary background. His father, the late V. Kamalakara Menon was a poet who held Akshara Shlokam recitation sessions at his home on a regular basis. Ramachandran was the third of his parents’ eight children and the second son. Ramachandran moved to New Delhi for work after receiving his bachelor’s degree in commerce from St.Thomas College, Thrissur, a Kerala University affiliate.
Ramachandran began his career in the banking industry in Delhi. He joined Canara Bank after graduating from the Delhi School of Economics with a post-graduate degree in economics. He later moved to the State Bank of Travancore as a field officer, accountant, and manager after being selected as a probationary officer by the State Bank of India. He was the superintendent of over 100 branches by the time he left the bank.
He relocated to Kuwait City in 1974 to work for the Commercial Bank of Kuwait.He was appointed as the International Division’s Administration Manager.He established the first ATLAS showroom in Kuwait’s Souk Al Watya after becoming convinced of the enormous demand for gold ornaments.
During the Gulf War, Kuwait was looted, and Ramachandran lost everything, so he started over in the United Arab Emirates. In the regional gold trade, he pioneered the concept of mega-offers. Shoppers won everything from gold bars to luxury cars.
