Bec is probably most well-known for her 2002 single Dance All Night, which she says was played ‘at least five or six times a day’ on Australian radio.

Bec Caruana has toured with major international acts including, Pink, Bon Jovi, Shaggy, The Sugababes,Natalie Imbruglia, Liberty X, DJ Sammy, KLF, Snap and C&C Music Factory and the Village People. At age 16 she was a runner-up on Channel 10’s Star Search. She says auditioning for that show was something her mum and singing teacher “schemed together”.”I didn’t know where we were going, mum said we were just going to see a lady who wanted me to sing for her.

So I went into the room and I sang a song and next thing I knew I was on Star Search,” she says.”That was a really good growth thing for me because I was a good singer but I wasn’t a confident person, so that gave me a really good boost of confidence.”

In her teens, before the internet really took off, Bec says she lived in a bit of a “bubble” so took for granted how unique of an opportunity the show was.”It was a really fun experience, it was a bit of a blur at that age to be honest. I didn’t really appreciate the opportunity or take it all in, at 16 I probably thought ‘everyone goes on these kinds of shows.'”Following her success on the show, in 2001 Bec was signed as a solo artist to Warner Music Australia.Bec’s even written a number one hit, ‘Only Love,’ for a Japanese boy band, Arashi. She says they’re “like the Backstreet Boys of Japan.”
