Blake Tollison Shelton was born in the Oklahoma town of Ada. He had written his first song by the age of 15. He had received a Denbo Diamond Award in his home state by the age of 16. Richie Shelton, his older brother, died in an automobile accident on November 13, 1990, at the age of 24.
