South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris on Thursday made his name in the history of IPL by becoming the most expensive player in the IPL auction after being bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 16.25 crore.Prior to Morris, Yuvraj Singh was the most expensive purchase in the history of the auction as a former Indian all-rounder was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 16 crore in IPL 2015. Morris has played 70 IPL matches for 80 wickets in an economy of 7.81, besides 551 runs at a strike rate above 157.

Mumbai Indians joined the bid battle for South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris along with Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Morris had a base price of Rs 75 lakh and went through an intense bidding war before being sold for Rs 16.25 crore.

Later, the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals also joined the race to sign Morris as the bidding war crossed the 13 crore mark for the South Africa all-rounder, which was released by RCB. In the end, Mumbai Indians conceded defeat in the battle of Chris Morris as the Rajasthan Royals made him the most expensive purchase in IPL auction history by implicating him as an all-rounder for Rs 16.25 crore.
