Thomas began her career as a legislative assistant to Republican Hal Daub in the United States House of Representatives. Thomas worked for the United States Chamber of Commerce after graduating from Creighton University School of Law. She later worked for the United States Department of Labor and as an aide to Republican Dick Armey in the House of Representatives.
She joined The Heritage Foundation in 2000 as a liaison between the conservative think tank and President George W. Bush’s administration.
