In the HBO limited series Veneno, she was one of three trans actresses (together with Jedet Sanchez and Daniela Santiago) who played trans icon Cristina “La Veneno” Ortiz Rodriguez. The miniseries is based on Valeria Vegas’ 2016 memoir “Not a Whore, Not a Saint: The Memories of La Veneno,” which recounted La Veneno’s life, including her gender change surgery in three stages, with Torres portraying her in the last stage. Isabel Torres announced in March 2020 that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer. In January 2021, she relapsed.
