James Charles Dickinson is an American Internet personality, beauty YouTuber, and make-up artist. While working as an area makeup artist in his hometown of Bethlehem, New York, he launched his self-titled YouTube channel, posting makeup tutorials. Professional Career : Charles started his social media career in 2015 with the launch of his YouTube channel, where he posted makeup tutorials.He rose to fame after a tweet of him retaking his senior portrait with a hoop light and makeup on went viral in September 2016. In October 2016, as a results of his online popularity, at 17 years old, Charles became a spokesmodel for cosmetics brand CoverGirl, working alongside brand ambassador Katy Perry and making him the first-ever male spokesmodel for the brand.Charles launched the Sisters Apparel clothing line and a makeup collection, the Sister Collection, made together with cosmetics brand Morphe Cosmetics, in November 2018.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations Controvercy: In February 2021, a 16-year-old TikTok user accused Charles of grooming him, stating that Charles had sent unsolicited nude photos to him and pressured him into sexting on Snapchat, even after Charles discovered that the user was 16 years old. during a statement posted to Twitter, Charles denied the allegations, saying that after adding the user on Snapchat, he received "lewd photos" from him, adding, "I asked how old he was directly and he told me he was 18 so I started flirting back." He went on to mention that, after the user revealed that he was 16 years old, Charles "un-friended" him.
Later that month, another TikTok user accused Charles of soliciting nude photos from him, while one Twitter user alleged that Charles flirted with him after checking out that he was 17 years old. In March 2021, Jake Cherry, another 16-year-old TikTok user, posted a video showing alleged messages between him and Charles, including a shirtless picture of Charles, also as later messages during which Charles accused Cherry of lying about his age, though Cherry stated that Charles was conscious of his age during their interaction.
On April 1, 2021, Charles posted a 14-minute-long video to his YouTube channel titled "holding myself accountable", during which he stated that he did send sexually explicit messages to 2 16-year-old boys, one among whom he spoke to in 2020 and therefore the other with whom he spoke closer to the posting of the video. Charles called his past behavior "reckless" and "desperate", saying, "to the blokes involved within the situation, I wanna say I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I flirted with you and i am really sorry if I ever made you uncomfortable. it's completely unacceptable."
He went on to mention that there was "no excuse" for the conversations happening which he should have researched the boys' ages further on his own, as he initially believed that the boys were over 18 years aged , and promised to be "way more careful moving forward" with those he spoke to within the future, adding that he would be taking an opportunity from social media.On April 17, 2021, Morphe released a press release saying they might be cutting business ties with Charles. On April 19, YouTube temporarily demonetized Charles' channel.
