Joanna began her acting career in 1969 when she was introduced to the role by Bob Hope. She was seen as Nancy Benson in How to Commit Marriage. The next year she starred as a character named Nurse Sharon in I Love My Wife. She got B.S. was also seen in I love you as Marilyn / Michelle. In 1972 she was seen as Gloria Rockwell in The Great American Beauty Contest. The same year she acted as Mini in A Time for Love.
The next year she worked on various projects.
