Collins moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from college. She was hired as an entertainment reporter by The Daily Caller in June 2014. After covering the 2016 presidential election, she was named White House correspondent by the Daily Caller in January 2017, and she began covering the Trump administration.
Collins was invited to make several appearances on CNN while she was still with The Daily Caller. She met network president Jeff Zucker at a White House correspondent event in spring 2017 and thanked him for having her on despite the ideological nature of her current employer. Collins was later interviewed and hired to join CNN’s White House team in July 2017.
