Pickett spent the majority of his first year at Pittsburgh as a backup to Max Browne and Ben DiNucci. In Pittsburgh’s final game of the season against the second-ranked Miami Hurricanes, he made his first career start. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in the team’s upset victory, and he also rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
Pickett led Pittsburgh to its first ACC Coastal Division title in his first season as the team’s full-time starter.The Panthers were ranked as high as No. 24 in the country by the Associated Press at one point during the 2018 season.
