After teaching English in India, she returned to the UK and worked for Country Living and Food & Homes Magazines, as well as her mother’s firm, Hindlip & Prentice Interiors, and studied at Christie’s. Kirmir, Allsopp’s own property search firm, launched in 1996 with a focus on high-end purchases in Central and West London.

In 2008 and 2009, Allsopp was suspected of working for the Conservative Party as a housing adviser, however he has denied this.Allsopp was one of 200 notable figures who signed a letter to The Guardian opposing Scottish independence in the months leading up to the September referendum.
