In 2010, List joined the Nationwide Tour. During his first two years on the Tour, he had four top-10 finishes. In 2011, he came in 38th on the money list and led the circuit in eagles. On April 29, 2012, List won his first professional event, the South Georgia Classic on the Nationwide Tour. List had a chance to win the Stadion Classic at UGA the next week when he had a one-shot lead over Hudson Swafford going into the final hole. However, he bogeyed the hole as Swafford birdied it, and List tied for second place.
He was promoted to the PGA Tour after finishing fourth on the Nationwide money list in 2012. He lost his status after finishing 163rd in the FedEx Cup in 2013. He also placed first in driving distance, averaging 306.3 yards per drive over the course of the season.He finished 119th on the Web.com Tour in 2014. He did, however, keep his 2012 victory status and finished 64th in 2015, earning a spot in the Web.com Tour Finals. He finished 22nd, just missing out on a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2015–16 season.
