Melissa began her career as a cadet at WIN Television’s Canberra bureau in 1990, eventually becoming their weather presenter. Doyle later joined Prime Television as a news anchor and general reporter in 1993.
Doyle left Prime in 1995 to work as a political reporter for the Seven Network in Canberra before moving to Sydney, where she read the news at 11 a.m., reported the news, and read the afternoon updates.
Doyle was one of Sunrise’s original hosts before it was cancelled in 1999, resurrected in 2000, and she returned in 2002. In 1999, she filled in for the last 11 a.m. bulletin because the incumbent, Anne Fulwood, had already moved to Melbourne. She also worked as a reporter for the Seven Late News.
