Novak Djokovic was born to Sran and Dijana on May 22, 1987 in Belgrade, which was then a part of Serbia and the former Yugoslavia. He has Serbian ancestry on his father’s side and Croatian on his mother’s.
Marko and Djordje are his brothers, and he also has a sister. Novak Djokovic first picked up a tennis racket when he was just four years old. At the age of six in 1993, he was discovered on Mount Kaponik by the Yugoslav tennis player Jelena Geni. His parents had a restaurant in the neighborhood when he was growing up.
Djokovic relocated to the Pili tennis academy in Germany in September 1999, when he was only 12 years old. He remained there for the next four years of his life. He began his career on the world stage at the age of 14, and by the time he was 18, he had won European titles in singles, doubles, and team tournaments.

A wedding ceremony in a church was held in Saint Stephen on the 12th of July, 2014.
The couple made the happy announcement on April 24, 2014, one day prior to their wedding, that they are expecting their first child together. Their son Stefan was born in France on October 21st, 2014, yet they live in the United States. In the early morning hours of September 2, 2017, the couple welcomed their daughter Tara into the world.
Novak Djokovic Career
In 2003, Djokovic began his career as a professional tennis player. At the age of 20, he won his first major victory at the 2008 Australian Open. In doing so, he ended the trend of 11 straight majors held jointly by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. By 2010, Djokovic had already established his dominance over the rest of the competition, allowing him to become a member of the Big Three alongside Federer and Nadal. Collectively, these three men are regarded by some as the three most successful male tennis players of all time.
In 2011, Djokovic won three of the four major tournaments and five Masters titles, which propelled him to the top spot in the world rankings for the first time. Throughout the rest of the decade, he continued to be the most successful player in men’s tennis, leading the circuit at majors, the Masters, and the Year-end Championships. Djokovic had his most successful season in 2015, when he won a season-record 10 Big Titles, including three majors, six masters, and the year-end championships.
This was Djokovic’s 15th consecutive appearance in the finals of a tournament. His dominant run continued until the 2016 French Open, where he completed both a non-calendar year Grand Slam and his first Career Grand Slam. He did this to become the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four majors at the same time, and he also set a record for the most ranking points (16,950) accumulated as the world’s No. 1 player.
As a member of the Serbian national team, Djokovic guided them to their first Davis Cup victory in 2010 and their first ATP Cup victory in 2020. Both of these victories were firsts. In addition to that, he brought home the bronze medal for Serbia at the Olympics in Beijing in 2008.
