He relocated to Chicago in 1977 after finishing his studies in Texas and worked as a commodity dealer for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange until 1982. He eventually returned to Nebraska, where he began working for E.T. installations. E.T installations is a company that sells and instals C-band residential satellites.

In 1987, the company became renowned as the nation’s largest home satellite retailer after introducing over 2,000 satellites into the Midwest at the time. Patrick also worked in Fort Worth, Texas, from 1992 to 1996 as the Director of Sales and Livestock Auction Supervisor. Superior Livestock Auction was the first in the United States to use satellite video, and it has since evolved to become the largest livestock auction company in the country.

 In 2017, Patrick founded the Cowboy channel, which was the first 24-hour network. It is presently based in the Fort Worth Stockyards and is dedicated to western sports and lifestyles. The station broadcasts “live” coverage of most big American events from all throughout the country.

The channel features cowboys and cowgirls doing their roughest and most talented labour. With the support of participating satellite partners, the channel now owns about 40 million homes. Cowboy Channel Plus, the channel’s OTT streaming platform, was launched in March 2020.
