Paul Anthony Pierce is an American former basketball player who played 19 seasons within the National Basketball Association (NBA), predominantly with the Boston Celtics. he's currently an analyst on ESPN's basketball programs The Jump and NBA Countdown.

After being selected by the Boston Celtics with the 10th overall pick within the 1998 NBA Draft, Pierce spent 15 of his career primary with Boston. Early Life : Pierce was born and raised in Oakland, California. His family later moved to Inglewood, California, where he attended Inglewood highschool . He was cut from Inglewood High's varsity five his freshman and sophomore years, and seriously considered transferring before spending overtime within the gym and becoming the star of the team by the top of his junior year.In his senior year he averaged 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists per game. Pierce went on to participate within the 1995 McDonald's All-American Game alongside future NBA stars Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Stephon Marbury, and Antawn Jamison, and was a contestant within the game's Slam Dunk Contest, which was won by Carter.
As a junior in 1997–98, Pierce won most precious Player honors in both the Preseason NIT and therefore the Big 12 Conference Tournament. In 2013, he, along side Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry, was traded to the Brooklyn Nets for future first-round picks within the 2014, 2016, and 2018 drafts. He was felicitated by the Boston Celtics who thanked him during a full-page advertisement for his contribution to the team.In July 2014, Paul Pierce signed a two-year contract with the Washington Wizards.
