Starting from April 1, those that are above 45 years aged are going to be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination, announced Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Starting from April 1, those that are above 45 years aged are going to be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination, announced Union Minister Prakash Javadekar. Prakash Javadekar during a news conference on Tuesday said that the govt has decided that from April 1, the vaccine will open for everyone above 45 years aged .

“We request that each one eligible should immediately register and obtain vaccinated,” Javadekar said. As of now, only people above 60 years aged and people within the age bracket of 45-60 who have co-morbidities were eligible for vaccination.

According to the Centre’s estimate, around 27 crore people belong in these categories. Anybody affected by serious cardiovascular ailments, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, AIDS, and persons with disabilities had been included within the list of individuals affected by comorbidities.He cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered within the country has crossed 4.72 crores with 19,65,635 doses being given on Monday, the Union Health Ministry said.
