Rasheed Abdul Wallace is an American basketball coach for the Los Angeles Lakers and former professional player. A native of Philadelphia, Wallace played college basketball at the University of North Carolina before declaring for the draft in 1995, where he’d play 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Professional Career
Wallace appeared in 65 games with the Bullets as a rookie, starting 51 of them in place of Chris Webber, who was injured. Wallace has been named to the All-Star Weekend rookie team. He broke his left thumb in a game against Orlando later that year and did not return until the following season. Wallace averaged 10.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in way to being chosen to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. During his debut season in Washington, Wallace scored 655 points and played 1,788 minutes.
Wallace was moved to the Portland Trail Blazers after the season, along with Mitchell Butler, for Rod Strickland and Harvey Grant. After the deal, Strickland averaged 17.2 ppg and 8.9 apg, helping the Bullets reach the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons in 1997, and he improved on those numbers the next year, with 17.8 ppg and a league-leading 10.5 apg.Wallace was moved to the Atlanta Hawks on February 9, 2004, along with Wesley Person, for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff, and Dan Dickau.
Wallace only appeared in one game for the Hawks, scoring 20 points in the first half. In a close loss on the road against the New Jersey Nets, he also had six rebounds, five blocks, two assists, and a steal, despite he did not score in the fourth quarter.
On July 8, 2009, Wallace signed a three-year contract with the Boston Celtics.Wallace struggled during the regular season, averaging career lows in points per game and rebounds per game. He also made 28 percent of his three-pointers and 40 percent of his field goals. In 2010, the Celtics advanced to the NBA Finals, but were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers in a four-game series.
Wallace played Game 7 after Celtics starting centre Kendrick Perkins hurt his right knee in Game 6 of the Finals. Wallace finished with 11 points on 5 of 11 shooting in the loss. Wallace’s agent, Bill Strickland, revealed on June 25, 2010, that Wallace will most likely retire from the NBA, which he did on August 10 when the Celtics bought out his contract.
After signing a two-year contract with the Detroit Pistons in July 2013, Wallace joined the team as an assistant coach. He was a member of the Pistons’ coaching staff for the 2013–14 season, but was not rehired by new coach Stan Van Gundy after that season. Wallace committed to join Penny Hardaway’s staff as an assistant coach at Memphis on August 18, 2021.
In Detroit, he reunited with his previous head coach, Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown. Wallace was announced on January 13, 2022, that he would not be serving in an in-person role and would instead work remotely for the remainder of the season.
