Professional Career
Rhamondre spent two seasons at Cerritos College before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. In his first season in 2019, he appeared in a total of 13 games. He was later suspended for the 2019 Peach Bowl after failing a marijuana drug test. He concluded the season with 515 yards rushing on 64 carries and six touchdowns. Stevenson was reinstated after serving a six-game ban in the 2020 season.
He was named MVP of the 2020 Cotton Bowl after rushing for 186 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries.The New England Patriots selected Rhamondre with the 120th overall pick and fourth round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. On May 19, 2021, he signed a four-year contract with the New England Patriots. Stevenson had a breakout game in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers, after appearing in the first eight games of the season.
On a short-out pattern, he rushed for 106 yards and caught 41 passes for 41 yards. Later in the game, he was forced to leave due to a concussion. The following week, his club faced the Cleveland Browns, and he carried for 100 yards and added 14 yards on the ground. His added yard helped the squad to a 45-7 victory over the Browns.
Rhamondre Stevenson experienced a very successful rookie season that should not be overlooked. After fully escaping the Bill Belichick doghouse in Week 9, Stevenson earned top grades across the board.
He was PFF’s third-highest graded running back (84.2). Stevenson also ranked 13th in rushing yards and in yards per route run (1.41). For fantasy, the rookie running back was the RB25 in total points scored, eight spots behind his backfield teammate Harris.
There’s a high ceiling for Stevenson, especially if you ask former Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich.
