Hijikata made his ITF debut in March 2018 at the Australia F3 in Mornington, Australia. The following week, at the Australia F4, he won his first match. Hijikata won silver in the Tennis at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics – Boys’ doubles in October 2018, teaming up with Bulgaria’s Adrian Andreev.
Hijikata was given a wildcard into the 2019 Australian Open – Men’s singles qualifying in January 2019. He was eliminated in the first round. Hijikata reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the ITF events in Mornington, Australia, in March. Hijikata won his first professional singles title later that year, in September, at the M15 Fayetteville in Arkansas, United States.
Hijikata was given a wildcard into the 2020 Australian Open – Men’s singles qualifying in January 2020, where he advanced to the second round.He received a wildcard into the 2021 Australian Open – Men’s singles qualifying in February 2021 and advanced to the second round.In July 2021, Hijikata won his second and third ITF titles, giving him a total of four ITF Futures singles titles in 2021.
