During the Battle of Mosul, Ramsay was directly next to an ISIL VBIED which exploded while he and his cameraman were recording footage from an Iraqi drone dropping grenades onto ISIL positions. A Sky News team came under fire by the Russian forces outside Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. The attack took place when the team was out covering Russia’s invasion on the outskirts of Kyiv. Sky News chief foreign correspondent Stuart Ramsay and his video producer suffered bullet injuries. They somehow managed to save their lives by running into a nearby factory. The team has now returned to the United Kingdom.
As per BBC News Sky News chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay and his four colleagues were driving back to the Ukrainian capital when they were ambushed.As they tried to escape from the car, a bullet hit Ramsay in his lower back while camera operator Richie Mockler took two rounds to his body armour.They were told a Russian reconnaissance unit was behind the attack.Russian forces have stepped up their bombardment in recent days, with heavy shelling and attacks on high-rise apartment buildings, a clinic and a hospital on Friday.The attack on the Sky News crew took place on Monday, as they returned to Kyiv after calling off a trip to another town because it was unsafe.
