UK CRONAVIRUS UPDATE : Boris Johnson experiences harsh criticism at PMQs over serious loss of life hits 57,300

Boris Johnson experienced harsh criticism as he came back to the Commons over a progression of U-turns which have soured Conservative backbench assessment towards the Government's treatment of the Covid pandemic. He confronted pundits during his first Prime Minister's Questions since Parliament's mid year break started on July 22. Mr Johnson demanded his Government has not been brushed off base by Covid-19, however recognized that "occasionally it is important" to alter course "because of the realities as they change".

It comes as new figures show a little more than 57,300 passings including Covid-19 have now been enrolled in the UK. The ONS information shows that 52,217 passings including Covid-19 had happened in England and Wales up to August 21, and had been enlisted by August 29.

Figures distributed a week ago demonstrated that 4,222 passings including Covid-19 had been enrolled in Scotland up to August 23, while 871 passings had happened in Northern Ireland up to August 21, and had been enlisted up to August 26. Together, these figures imply that so far 57,310 passings have been enrolled in the UK where Covid-19 was referenced on the demise declaration, including suspected cases.
