The Indian Railways has invited fresh tenders for manufacturing semi-high speed Vande Bharat train sets that specialize in the domestic manufacturers and promoting the government's ambitious Make in India project.

The Indian Railways has invited fresh tenders for manufacturing semi-high speed Vande Bharat train sets that specialize in the domestic manufacturers and promoting the government's ambitious Make in India project. The fresh development has come almost a month after railways cancelled the tender for manufacturing 44 trains.

In a statement, the Railway Ministry said that it's floated the revised Tender of semi high speed 44 Vande Bharat trains sets that the pre-bid meeting are going to be persisted Michaelmas . The ministry said that the tender will open on November 17, 2020.

According to the railway ministry officials, train sets shall be manufactured at ICF/Chennai, RCF/Kapurthala and MCF/Raebareli. It shall be local (indigenous) tender and two stage, reverse auction shall happen .
The ministry also said that the tender has been divided into three phase -- propulsion, control and other equipment along side coaches for trains sets.

The ministry said that it's the primary big tender under revised DPIIT norms of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Having a minimum of 75 per cent domestic components and therefore the tender is now a domestic tender.

On 22 August , the Indian Railways cancelled the worldwide tender for the manufacturing of 44 rakes of Train 18, which has been re-christened as Vande Bharat Express after the Chinese venture company CRRC Pioneer Electric (India) Private Limited emerged because the only foreign bidder for the worldwide tender floated for manufacturing 44 rakes of Vande Bharat trains.
